Science of Food Choice

SOFC Daily Wellness Checklist and Resource for a presentation at ATI Architects & Engineers

I recently had the opportunity to give a talk at ATI Architects & Engineers about the Science of Food Choice and created this practical everyday checklist for making healthier food choices.

The philosophies within each of these are not only rooted within realms of nutrition (such as utilizing time restricted feeding on an everyday basis for better metabolic health), but also realms in psychology, neuroscience, and consumer behavior to make mindful AND mindless (defaulting) healthy food choices every day.

This involves:

  1. Setting an every day intention for our future self.

  2. Eating mindfully.

  3. Building neural mechanisms known to make our “food choice making” stronger and emotional reactivity (such as is most influenced in high stress states) balanced through meditation.

  4. Choosing high antioxidant, high fiber, microbiome-friendly, satiating foods.

  5. Being realistic with ourselves about consumption (recording what we’re consuming).

  6. Making palatable substitutions, particularly when we find ourselves overconsuming not so healthy foods.

  7. And incorporating exercise into our daily regime.

  8. Eating in an 8-10 hour window or utilizing Intermittent Fasting.

The Wellness Checklist Resource then gives more specifics into examples of which foods and actions to take.

Please enjoy, and let me know if these resources help you on your health journey!
